Review of Howl'o'ween 2020 at Chessington World of Adventures

There’s hair-raising fun this Howl’o’ween at Chessington World of Adventures with attractions including The Forgotten Forest, a new walkthrough experience, the Creepy Caves Resurgence scare maze and Spooktacular Story Time.

Howl'o'ween Attractions

The Forgotten Forest (New for 2020)

Perfect for younger adventurers, as there are no scares but plenty of spooky fun. This year's new walkthrough attraction takes over from the previous Trick or Treat Wood and once again located in the woodland setting opposite Room on the Broom - A Magical Journey. Unlike it's predecessor, the experience doesn't include any live actors, and instead makes use of highly decorated scenes with lots of photo opportunities.

Creepy Caves Resurgence

This award-winning scare maze returns with an updated story, a new route and a completely different experience this year. It's seriously impressive, with a superb concept, design, effects and acting. The former reptile and creepy crawly exhibit in the zoo closed many years ago due to the discovery of a dangerous new plant species, and now you're invited inside to help with the investigations... what could possibly go wrong?

Creepy Caves Resurgence is a scare attraction, designed to be frightening, and it's strongly recommended that only the bravest of adventurers enter (aged at least 10+ years). Right at the start of the experience, each member of your group will be separated out and put into a 'decontamination pod', this alone caused some people to back out and leave the attraction!

Groups are limited to 2-4 people from the same household/bubble, so you won't see anyone else in the attraction except the actors. It's a fun, exciting, chaotic and loud experience that's definitely worth the additional charge of £5 per person.

Spooktacular Story Time

The frightfully fun 'Elmer and the Monster' book by David McKee is nicely brought to life on the Mane Stage. It's a good addition to the event, that ties into the opening of Elmer's Flying Jumbos earlier this year. Sadly the Haunted Howl’o’ween Live Show is no longer part of the event, so this is the only show.

Rides come alive!

New this year, there are also a few costumed characters around the park and in the queues for some attractions. Starting at 12 noon each day, actors can be found at various locations including the SEA LIFE aquarium, RainforestTomb Blaster, Rattlesnake and Vampire. It's a nice touch that adds a bit of extra entertainment.

The whole park has been really well decorated for Halloween, with hundreds of pumpkins, skeletons and spiders adorning the rides, attractions and many other areas. Together with some spooky lightning, smoke and music this provides a wonderful atmosphere. We are always impressed with the amount of effort that Chessington puts into this every year.

Our admission was provided by the park for the purposes of this review. Tickets are pre-book only and available from £29.50 per person.

Howl'o'ween continues every day at Chessington World of Adventures until the 1st November 2020.
