Find Your Fearless
After many months of anticipation, it's finally time to ‘Find Your Fearless’ on Hyperia!
"This golden goddess will lift you to all-new heights, towering 236ft above the landscape. Take your seat and prepare for the journey of a lifetime as you touch the sky and glide over glistening waters at speeds of over 80mph. Hyperia is unlike anything you’ve experienced before, featuring a world’s-first twist, Europe’s tallest inversion, and more weightless moments than any coaster in the nation!"
The name Hyperia is a reference to the ride's classification as a 'hypercoaster', a term used to describe a roller coaster more than 200ft tall, as well as Hyperia being the name of a goddess in Greek mythology.

On arrival at Thorpe Park we were immediately struck by the sheer scale of the new ride, that towers above the rest of the park. Until now, Stealth was the tallest and fastest ride at Thorpe Park, at 205ft tall with a top speed of 80mph.
As previous record holder of the UK's tallest roller coaster The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach is 213ft tall, Hyperia adds an additional 23ft to that.
In track length, Hyperia is now by far the longest roller coaster at Thorpe Park, with more than 3,265ft of track, considerably more than the 2,788ft of Colossus.
Hyperia has two 20-seat trains, each of which contains five cars seating riders in two rows of two.
A dispatch sequence with music, smoke, flashing lights and projection effects accompanies each train leaving the station. We loved this dramatic beginning to the ride.

After swiftly climbing to the top of the 236ft tall lift hill, where riders can take in breathtaking views, the ride plunges into an incredible vertical drop that completes a full 180-degree twist before reaching the bottom, then immediately into a gigantic swooping Immelmann.
Following the first huge inversion, the ride moves into a staggering Outward Banked Airtime Hill, with riders feeling as though they might be thrown from their seats, then straight into the second inversion, a Barrel Roll Downdrop.
Next up, and delivering a prolonged upside down moment is a Stalled Dive Loop, the third and final inversion, followed by a Stengel Dive and a fun bunny hop for a final pop of airtime before returning to the station.
There isn't a moment to pause for breath throughout the entire ride, so it's a very intense two minutes! The ride delivers significant airtime and hangtime, making it the most extreme ride at Thorpe Park.
After the ride you can view and purchase your on-ride photos, which are presented in a nice card folder with information about the park.
Hyperia has been supplied by the German ride manufacturer Mack Rides, which is the same company behind the recently opened Voltron Nevera at Europa-Park and ICON at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Fearless Valley
Hyperia is located in the new Fearless Valley area, an open plaza at the very back of the park, behind Colossus.
Going back many years ago, this area was known as Canada Creek and included the Logger's Leap log flume, Canada Creek Railway and Rocky Express. All of those attractions have since been removed, and this old area has been completely transformed into what is now Fearless Valley.
In addition to Hyperia, the newly themed area includes the Hyporium gift shop, packed full of souvenirs, Cloud Nine Treats, where yummy desserts are available, and a Burger King.
All the buildings in this area have been finished in a modern style, with a gold and black finish. Some atmospheric music fills the plaza, and an impressive Hyperia gateway leads riders into the queues for the new ride.
We would describe it as styled rather than fully themed, with the soundtrack doing a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to creating an atmosphere.

Hyperia is the most significant new roller coaster to open in the UK for six years, and it's also Thorpe Park's first new roller coaster in 12 years.
Their £18 million investment in the new ride coincides with a complete rebrand of the park, and puts it firmly back on the international stage, set to attract visitors from not just the UK but beyond.
Congratulations to Thorpe Park, Merlin Magic Making, Mack Rides and the other partners for delivering this exceptional new ride.
