Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2021 - review & photos

Thorpe Park is celebrating 20 Years of Fear at their legendary Fright Nights event in 2021. We were invited to the VIP Preview to join the party and brave their lineup of terrifying attractions.

SPOILER ALERT! Although we have kept the spoilers within our review to a minimum, it does include photos from inside the scare attractions.

With this year's event marking a special anniversary, Thorpe Park pulled out all the stops for the VIP Preview and created a spectacular party venue.

Trailers - Scare Maze

Immerse yourself in a dimension of nostalgia as you take your seat and journey into a gruesome and spine-chilling collection of horror classics… but will you make it past the Trailers? Witness the power of film come to life this Halloween at SuperSpark Cinema – a picture house with a shocking reputation. From demonic monsters to killer clowns, no fear will go unmissed as you find yourself stuck inside a never-ending loop of terror with no escape! So grab your ticket and tuck into your popcorn… the Trailers are about to begin.

New for 2021, the fantastic Trailers scare maze is a megamix of horror themes, all cleverly wrapped up in an overarching storyline about a power surge at the SuperSpark Cinema. It's probably the most entertaining scare maze they have ever created, with something new to discover at every turn and a fantastic cast of actors.

There are so many brilliantly executed scenes, and plenty of references to some of the most iconic scare attractions from the past 20 years of Fright Nights at Thorpe Park. We won't say any more about how the audience crosses over and how it ends, but you are certainly in for a treat! Trailers is a guaranteed box office hit.

Creek Freak Massacre - Scare Maze

Hacking their way back into the now abandoned Creek Woods Sawmill, the Buckwheats are back with a vengeance! Brace yourself and prepare for the gruesome worst as you take on the chainsaw wielding maniacs - will you survive the madness?! If you’re looking for a maze that scares you, we mean truly terrifies you, this extreme maze experience is set to be the most intense scare maze in the UK.

It's back! Creek Freak Massacre is the most extreme scare maze in Fright Nights history. The intensity of the acting is exemplary from start to finish, as you pass through the blood soaked corridors of the sawmill, encountering the most horrifying scenes and then becoming victims of the murderous maniacs that have taken over.

Expect to end up crawling on your knees, be split up from your group, and come face to face with multiple aggressive actors at once. There will be loud noises, flashing lights and sudden jump scares throughout. Brace yourself!

Platform 15: End of the Line - Scare Maze

It's the End of the Line for Platform 15. Final call for all passengers! Depart on a one-way ticket and trek along the overgrown railway line, the last known route of the vanished locomotive - the notorious Sleeper Express. Don’t lose your tracks and risk disturbing the haunted souls that were once aboard. Can you outrun what lies at the end of the line or will your journey terminate here, at Platform 15?

After many years as the longest Fright Nights scare maze, it's finally time to bid farewell to Platform 15. As we joined Creek Tours for the last time, it was great to see the attraction go out on a high with several new elements along the way. In terms of fear factor and intensity, it's far lower than the other scare mazes at this year's event but we were impressed by the suitably unhinged performances by the actors.

We loved the scare zones at this year's Fright Nights, especially new addition The Crows of Mawkin Meadows, which is by far the biggest and best themed scare zone Thorpe Park has ever created.

THE SWARM: INVASION had many more actors this year, and lots of new sets and props to bring the area to life. The tinfoil chewing, urine drinking and projectile vomiting will certainly leave a lasting impression on us!

LycanThorpe vs Amity High: LoveBITES! is an amalgamation of two themed zones from last year with the werewolf and vampire students from both high schools coming together, which was always the best bit anyway.

Creek Freaks: Unchained has returned, although in a simplified form due to the associated scare maze also now back. The actors were once again on top form, terrorising anyone that dared to venture through and chasing them if necessary!

The other additions to this year's event include Legacy - A Fire and Light Display (although not operational for the VIP Preview) and the rather bizarre Birthday BASH! show.

Thorpe Park Fright Nights runs on 8th - 10th and 15th - 31st October 2021.
