The refurbished and reimagined swinging galleon ride, previously known as Colossus at Robin Hill Country Park, and crafted by renowned ride manufacturer Zamperla, brings a gust of fresh energy and seafaring fun to the beloved Pirate Cove area.
Guests stepping aboard The Jolly Robin are in for a nostalgic yet thrilling journey that’s truly classic Blackgang Chine — blending the charm of its rich history with imaginative storytelling. The adventure kicks off in true Blackgang style, as visitors enter through the iconic belly of Jonah’s Whale. This colossal fibreglass figure has been a fan favourite for over 50 years and has now been repositioned to form the entrance to the ride’s immersive queue experience.
The queue area itself is a whimsical delight, packed with quirky nautical touches including a skeletal seagull, a curling sea monster tentacle, and a vibrant, hand-painted wave mural that runs along the fencing. Ambient ocean sounds round out the scene, plunging visitors into a world of swashbuckling fantasy before they even board the ship.
One of the most talked-about elements of The Jolly Robin will be its safety announcement, voiced by the YouTuber and celebrity personality Joe Sugg. Known for his love of the park, Sugg created his own Talking Bin — a quirky invention that led to a viral collaboration with Blackgang Chine. Now, as “Captain Joe,” his voice adds a splash of humour to the ride.
The swinging ship opened to visitors with a soft launch on Thursday, April 17, and is already making waves as a standout addition to the park. With a minimum height restriction of just 1.1 metres, The Jolly Robin is set to become a favourite for families and thrill-seekers alike.
Whether you're a long-time Blackgang Chine fan or a first-time visitor, this bold new ride is proof that the park’s playful spirit is sailing stronger than ever.
